Know More about File Extensions

All files carry different file extensions that help us determine their type. If your work involves using the computer all day, it pays to know more about different files extensions. Let’s find out what file extensions PART and PDF mean.

File extension PART is usually referred to partially downloaded files. When any file is being downloaded, the download managers store parts of the file with the file extension PART. When the entire file is downloaded, the actual file is then saved in its original file extension. PART files by itself have no real significance and can only be opened when the entire file is downloaded. Therefore, if the download manager is not able to download the total file, the portion of the file that has been downloaded will temporarily be saved under the file extension PART. You then would need to download the entire file again in order to view it.

File extension PDF refers to Adobe Acrobat’s Portable Document Format. PDF format is used by Adobe Systems to represent documents that are created in a two-dimensional device independent and resolution independent document format in a fixed layout. If you need to encode the exact appearance of a document in a device-independent manner, PDF files are the one for you. With PDF format, you can create simple one-page documents or complex documents involving an assortment of graphics, fonts, images, and colors. There are various software programs available to create and edit PDF files. For example, numerous PDF print drivers for MS Windows, the multi-platform OpenOffice, and Adobe Acrobat itself can be used to create PDF files.
